Release notes

Each release we make aNewSpring even more user friendly and give it extra features.

Below is a list of recent updates. We will update this list if a new version of aNewSpring is being released.


August 2020 - release 86


Learners

  • Added: Learners now receive a feedback alert after handing in a version in the hand-in assignment.
  • Improved: It is possible to search the homepage for courses that haven’t been started yet.


Templates

  • Improved: Toggling a template functionality in the template settings will directly check/select all sub-options.
  • Added: An explanation on the content management page.
  • Improved: The navigation of while editing activities. We changed the 'Cancel' button into a 'Back to template' button. 


Instruct

  • Improved: various changes to the Dashboard, including: 
    • The order of the data is now shown highest to lowest.
    • All learners (including those that haven't started the course yet) are now shown in the activity progress.
    • Combined the various statistics pages into one page with multiple tabs.
    • Redesign of the learner and course statistics.

Users

  • Improved: The button 'Import users' is now combined with the +Users button.
  • Added: The ability to determine the time zone for users you import.
  • Added: To make aNewSpring more secure, all new passwords must contain 8 or more characters.


Catalogue

  • Added: Option to display the events in the product. (Potential) learners can already see (or even enrol for) the events, before purchasing/adding the product.

General

  • Improved: Loading of various pages is now more consistent. Elements will be loaded simultaneously.

Events

  • Added: Tags and possibilty to filter on tags in the overview of events and when adding events in an activity.


Creating content

  • Improved: Elements move slower while navigating the plus editor page
  • Improved: The plus-editor interface and interaction. The edit action of the elements is now placed above the splitting action.


Templates

  • Added: Your previous choices for template settings will be remembered, so you don't have to start from scratch the next time you create another template.
  • Improved: Breadcrumb at the overview of blocks and activities. 
  • Improved: The tabs within the templates and activies have a different order and new icons.
  • Improved: The buttons to edit the blocks and activities in the template are updated to make it more clear. The button to enter the block edit flow is now called Settings.
  • Improved: Explanation for learner at the start of the course.
  • Improved: Sharing tab has been moved to the discussion widget.
  • Added: Explanation for the discussion widget. 
  • Improved: The Personal Learner Advice functionality has been freshened up and moved to the template settings page. The options in the advice functionality offer additional explanations and the interface is now more user friendly.
  • Improved: The legend has been removed in the modal of creating an activity, added better explanation to the types. 
  • Added: Reflection activity
  • Added: Expanding the condition (after activity "X" is completed with result "X") with the attendance score of events. This condition can now also be triggered by the attendance score of an event activity.


Admin

  • Improved: Previously, an administrator also needed the permission for the groups overview to manage learner groups, which is no longer the case.
  • Added: learner groups can be linked to instructors within a course. 
  • Added: LTI ID on the settings page of the course

Instructor

  • Added: Instructors can filter on their learner groups in new messages, via the filter. 
  • Improved: The instructor dashboard


Communication

  • Added: An announcement can be send to multiple courses at once.


Catalogue

  • Removed: The 'free' label and 0 dollar in free products. From now on, products will only have a price indication if they actually have a price.


Student

  • Added: learners are now able to adjust submitted (video) hand-in assignments, provided that the learner is responsible for completing the activity.

March 2020 - release 84


Events

  • Added: New assessment type 'Attendance' to assess the learners with 'Present' or 'Absent'. 
  • Added: Limit unenrollment option. Learners can only unenroll before the set time period. After the set time period, learners are unable to unenroll.


Create content

  • Added: You can now add Hihaho videos as content type in the plus editor.


Templates

  • Improved: When creating a template you don't have to choose a type anymore. Choose the purpose of the template and the functionalities you want to use.
  • Added: New option in template settings: learners receive e-mail notifications of all discussions, regardless if they participate in the discussions.


Admin

  • Added: Add one or more learner groups to a course, even when the course already exist.

  • Tab learners at the settings of a course: 
    • Improved: Design of the learner list. 
    • Added: Add learners to one or more groups. Groups will be shown in the learner list.

November 2019 - release 82


Learners

  • Changed: Moved collapse/expand icon to the left of the activity title when an activity has sections.
  • Added: Extra space between 'Reply' and 'Reply to all' buttons in the communication centre.
  • Changed: Popup at end of activity will now always show the 'Back to overview' button.


Instructor

  • Added: When replying to a message, you can also open the previous message in the popup.


Designer

  • Added: Change styling of learning journey to for example create a knowledge base instead of linear learning journey. This setting:
    • Hides the learning journey timeline.
    • Shows blocks ans activity more compact.
  • Added: Only allow learners to go back to overview at end of activity.
  • Improved: Optimised the table under the Content tab of a template. Only the data of expanded folders will be loaded to improve loading times of large content libraries.
  • Improved: Search feature allows searching content by ID when selecting existing content to use in the template.
  • Changed: The focus stays on a block after creating or editing the block.
  • Added: Filter tags when selecting content for an activity.


Author

  • Improved: Renewed the table under the Content tab.
  • Added: Screenreading service ReadSpeaker: Select more languages for the content library so this can be used for ReadSpeaker.
  • Fixed: Fill-in-the-blanks question don't allow creation of questions without a 'blank'.
  • Tags:
    • Added: Create tags and apply them to content libraries, questions and content parts. An administrator can set the permissions in the tag collection.
    • Added: Filter on (multiple) tag(s)


Administrator

  • Tags:
    • Added: Set permissions for authors to access a tag collection.
    • Added: Set permissions per user to use and/or manage a tag collection.
    • Added: Rename a tag collection.
    • Added: Link tag collections at the user data. This is only possible if the user has at least one of these roles: designer, author, administrator or reseller. The administrator that wants to change these settings needs administration rights for tag collections.

  • Fixed: Renewed integration with Stripe API to keep it working.

    • Fixed: 'Gross' and 'Nett' terms have been swapped

  • Instructor can now view per learner what needs to be assessed, not just by activity. This makes it easy for an instructor to view all work that has been handed-in by the learner and view it again later as well.
